Director Ken Loach Officially Opens New Screening Room In The Media Building

Ken Loach, Britain’s pre-eminent living film director, opened a new screening room in the Media Building on Thursday 20th November after taking part in a question and answer session with students and staff.

Over a period of nearly 50 years Ken Loach has directed nearly 60 films. Perhaps still best known for two of his earliest films, Cathy Come Home (1966) and Kes (1969), Ken Loach continues to produce films of the highest quality, and, especially over the last 20 years, he has been the recipient of many awards and enjoys a high international standing. Awarded an Honorary Degree by Keele in 2009,he giving his name to a prize for an outstanding student in MCC and said he was delighted to be invited back to Keele for the opening of the viewing room and the Q&A session.
