Paul Abbott, screenwriter and producer, on being awarded an honorary degree by Keele

Screenwriter and Producer, Paul Abbott was awarded an honorary degree by Keele University during the University’s winter graduation ceremonies yesterday, on Thursday, 22 January.

A very well attended Q&A session followed. Great to see students participating so enthusiastically and Abbott responding with such honesty and passion. One of the final questions, ‘why do you participate in these Q&A events?’. Abbott’s answer, ‘To inspire young writers to work just that little bit harder. The harder you work the better you write’. It was definitely an inspiring session!

Interested in honing you screenwriting skills? Studying MCC at Keele provides you the opportunity for doing so. Joe Stretch offers a ‘Writing for the Screen’ module available to 2nd year MCC students (http://www.keele.ac.uk/modcat/2014-5/eng-20043.htm) and I will be offering a story development module specifically focusing on short films for first year students (from the academic year 2015-2016).
